Prince of Persia Film Premiere 2010

The Prince of Persia Premiere took place in London on 9th May 2010. Utopium supplied the lighting and staging for this dynamic event.

This premiere was a little different for us as it was staged at Westfield shopping centre. A great change to the challenges of Leicester Square as it gave us new challenges of working inside a shopping centre.

Lighting this premiere took a back seat for a change, as large structures were built for a free running team. These structures had been designed to be millimetre perfect as the team of athletes needed to be sure the structures were safe and secure.

James Thomas GP20 truss supplied the main structural support for all the free running areas. There was also selection of other assorted rigging equipment providing the exact needs of the free runners. During the design of the structures, dynamic loading had to be taken into account as the free runners would be moving around them and also using them as spring boards. All of these loads had to be calculated accurately so that the structures were in perfect working order from start to finish.

The lighting came from two in house flown trusses. The shopping centre has a wealth of automated fixtures that we were able to use. We supplemented the in house lighting rig by adding our own stock of Pixel Par 90’s and Pixel-line 1044 battens.
