Utopium have lit a packed out Leicester Square again on the 31st March 2011 for the premiere of Sucker Punch.
With the evenings now becoming lighter, our job in changes somewhat as we are not required to actually illuminate the red carpet so much any more. Although we still provide key light for the cameras and fans, we are able to spend our time on effects. This gives the premiere that extra wow factor. With a large selection of LED moving head lights used, we are able to create colourful wash effects across the carpet and on the surrounding buildings.
Leicester Square creates its own unique problems at the moment, as the square itself is currently being redeveloped. There is now a much smaller area to stage the premiere's and and no room at all for a control position. Our production team spent time making sure that the disruption that we caused to the square was kept to an smaller time frame than usual, so that the routes that are open around the square did not become congested.
As ever, the rain didn't put our technicians off (or luckily the stars!) and the event went without a hitch.
Take a look at these videos below to see what we did.
